Success!

Passed my written and driving exams for the racing licence so that's the form-filling and so on completed for the moment. It's basically a waiting game until March 15th when I get my hands on the car I'll be driving for the first three rounds...

The season calendar isn't quite finished yet, the proposed TV deal hasn't been announced yet, the 2007 rules and regs haven't been published yet, my membership to the SMRC hasn't arrived yet and the season start is only about 5 weeks away! Some things in the real world actually do seem to mirror online racing leagues!

At least my scholarship has been announced. ;)

WTF??

Well that was unexpected...

I had no idea I had a realistic chance of getting that - I'm starting to wonder if they only had three applicants! This is great news for me as it pays all the costs of the six-session test day and a hefty chunk of the costs of running a ScotLegends team car in the first three rounds of the Championship (no confirmed calender yet but it's likely they'll be in April, May and June.)

Haven't had much of a chance to let that sink in as I've got the racing licence test on Monday. It's supposed to be pretty straight-forward so long as you don't do anything too daft in the driving part of it. As long as I pass that then I'll be hitting the track on March the 15th for the Legends test-day at Knockhill...

Winter Hibernation...

The lack of any update to this blog thing would normally indicate that my mad idea of going racing in 2007 had fallen by the wayside. You'd be sensible to think this. You'd also be wrong!

This morning I passed my racing medical (with the kind of flying colours I hadn't expected...) so all that's left is to take the ARDS Racing Test at Knockhill, which I'm booked in to do on the 26th of Feb, and then we're all the way.

I entered the Scottish Legends Scholarship for 2007 ( http://www.smrc-uk.com/clubinfo/legends_scholarship.pdf ) on the off chance, but when the confirmation comes in that I haven't got it (let's be realistic here - they wont be giving something like that to a total rookie) I'm going to be having a word with the guy who runs a number of XR2s in the Scottish series with regards to sourcing a car from him and having it run by his team. I can't afford to run in the legends (the thing I tested in September) without the Scholarship so chances are I'll be in an XR2 this year.

Scholarship results are announced in a week so I should be back here shortly.
